Title: Performance Update of Altair® HyperWorks® Solvers on HP Moonshot M710P
Authors: Eric Lequiniou, Altair & Thierry Carron, HP
Time: 10:30 - 12:30
Location: Track D
Abstract:
In this presentation, Altair and HP will discuss latest performance numbers obtained running HyperWorks 14.0 solvers: RADIOSS®, OptiStruct® and FEKO®.
RADIOSS is a leading structural analysis solver for highly non-linear problems under dynamic loadings. It is highly differentiated for scalability, quality and robustness, and consists of features for multiphysics simulation and advanced materials such as composites. RADIOSS is used across all industry worldwide to improve the crashworthiness, safety, and manufacturability of structural designs.
OptiStruct is an industry proven, modern structural analysis solver for linear and nonlinear problems under static and dynamic loadings. As a market leader for structural design and optimization, OptiStruct helps designers and engineers analyze and optimize structures for their strength, durability and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) characteristics and rapidly develop innovative, lightweight and structurally efficient designs.
FEKO is a comprehensive computational electromagnetics (CEM) code used widely in the telecommunications, automobile, aerospace, marine, and defense industries. Applications include the analysis of antennas, micro-strip circuits and biomedical systems, the placement of antennas on electrically large structures, the calculation of scattering as well as the investigation of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) effects (shielding, cable coupling etc.).
Showing benchmark results conducted by HP, Altair will demonstrate how their highly scalable parallel solvers perform well on the HP M710P system, a powerful version of the Moonshot based on the new Intel E3-1284Lv4 quad core CPU.
Some performance numbers obtained with different industrial workloads will be presented.
Then, it will be discussed how such low power and energy efficient system compares in term of performance with HP clusters equipped with high-end Intel Xeon processors for these compute intensive workloads.
Title: Seeing Through the Clouds with Remote Visualization
Authors: Scott Suchyta, Altair
Time: 13:30 - 14:30
Location: Track G
Abstract:
The constant demand for more data and larger data sets is driven by ever-increasing complex simulations and processes. Users are getting to the point where the sum of the data exceeds the capabilities of the common workstation or laptop. In addition, the time users must wait for their data to download often feels like a never ending meeting. You know what we mean. Sites are looking to remote visualization to improve the user’s workflow and efficiency.
Altair’s PBS Works suite is the all-in-one solution for delivering a world-class job scheduler, an intuitive web-based interface for submitting and managing jobs, a powerful remote visualization portal, and insightful analytics. This tutorial session will focus on Altair’s remote visualization product, called Display Manager. We will demonstrate the streamlined user workflow for setting up simulation models, submitting, and post-processing their results. In addition, we will present the technical capabilities and the support of 3D remote visualization software like the HP Remote Graphic Software and Windows Remote Desktop.
Title: Are You Ready to Triple Your Workload by Scaling Out and Not Compromise Performance?
Authors: Scott Suchyta, Altair
Time: 13:30 - 14:30
Location: Track F
Abstract:
PBS Professional v13.0 is architected for Exascale with increased speed, scale, resiliency, and much more. This tutorial session will introduce you to the critical architectural changes and how it improves scalability and performance. We will walk you through many of the new capabilities and how to use them at your site. The extension of our PBS Plugin frameworks, which allows administrators control of the job life cycle, is even more powerful for node health checking – complementing HP Insight CMU’s capabilities.
