Altair Engineering Names Executives to New Technology Leadership Positions
New vice presidents will focus on emerging technology and product development
TROY, Mich., (March 30, 2006) - Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services that strengthen client innovation and decision-making, today announced that it has created two executive-level positions to focus on emerging technology and product development. Massimo (Max) Fariello has been named vice president, Advanced Technology, and Uwe Schramm, Ph.D., is vice president of Product Technology. Both men have been with the Altair organization for more than 10 years and will report to James E. Brancheau, Altair’s chief technology officer.
"Exploring advanced technologies and making the hard decisions about if and how these technologies can be integrated into Altair’s strategic vision will drive our ongoing success," said Brancheau. "Max is very creative in finding and evaluating technology and products to determine their relevance to our mission, and he and I will be working closely together. Uwe, who has proven himself as a champion of optimization technology, will not only develop relevant technology into Altair products, but also anticipate customers’ needs to ensure the full potential of those products is attained. In addition to his new responsibilities, Uwe will continue his work in program management."
Before being named to the new position, Fariello was managing director of Altair Italy. He will continue to spend a portion of his time supporting the manufacturing technologies he has fostered as part of that organization in addition to his corporate responsibility. Fariello joined Altair in 1994, when he incorporated Altair Engineering Italy. Before that, he worked with Gems software to lead their CAE research group. Fariello is a graduate of Turin (Italy) Polytechnic University, with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Previously, Schramm was director of Altair HyperWorks Program Management, where he was responsible for product definition, requirements specification and project management. In 1996, he joined Altair Engineering GmbH in Böblingen, Germany, as an engineering manager specializing in automotive applications of finite element software. Schramm received both his master’s degree and his doctorate from the University of Rostock (Germany).
