Better Product Decisions Earlier with Simulation-driven Design

Altair simulation-driven design changed product development forever, enabling engineers to reduce design iterations and prototype testing. Our industry-leading engineering analysis and optimization tools enable rapid design iterations through simplified modeling workflows to help deliver manufacturable, optimal designs early.

  • Altair® Inspire™ democratizes modeling and simulation making it accessible to all designers and engineers, particularly if they don’t have time for (or access to) traditional CAD tools. It now provides a robust history-based CAD modeling approach to create and modify geometry easily and quickly.
  • Both simulation experts and designers can perform "what-if" studies faster and easier, encouraging collaboration. Inspire dependable support of Altair’s high-end solver power now expands to flexible bodies for motion analysis and even faster Altair SimSolid® integration for rapid analysis of large assemblies.
  • With over 500 well documented and running examples, the new python based Inspire API enables fast automation and customizations for end-users as well as an unlimited framework for product extensions by third parties.

The Right Model, for the Right Decision, at the Right Time

By combining computationally efficient reduced-order models and detailed CAE analysis with process automation of repetitive and tedious tasks, Altair provides workflows for early system models, mixed-fidelity simulations, and multiphysics validations, across domains including electrification or advanced manufacturing.

The newly released Altair Pulse orchestrates meaningful models from the broad workflows required to simulate complex systems of systems to the focused workflows needed to enable fast, reliable, repeatable modeling, analysis, and optimization. Here are some of the advantages offered in the new release:

  • Create a product development digital thread that drives script consolidation, process commonization, data traceability, and view dashboards for process and product KPIs for simulation across the enterprise and throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Digitize best practices to increase team efficiency and analysis consistency while reducing procedural errors and non-value-added time so more time can be spent using simulation to inform performance targets, evaluate attribute trade-offs, and explore ‘what if’ scenarios.
  • Eliminate repetitive and tedious tasks, even for complex processes, across applications using multiple scripting languages to boost engineering efficiency, enabling fast, reliable, repeatable modeling, analysis, and optimization for single or multiple physics problems.

Bringing Augmented Intelligence to a Broad Range of CAE Tools

Engineering adoption of AI is transforming product development yet again. AI-driven design, augmented simulation, and predictive analytics are all contributing to increase collaboration, speed up design convergence, and achieve greater product innovation.

The latest release of Altair simulation leverages machine learning (ML) algorithms in three main areas of innovation:

Transform Altair Products into AI-driven Products
The latest release of Altair® HyperWorks® includes features like shapeAI, which quickly finds and classifies parts "by shape" inside geometry files or finite element meshes by applying machine learning.

AI-powered Tools for Product Design
The most recent release of the HyperWorks Design Explorer deploys machine learning models to provide real-time predictions on any variable the user wants to explore.

Leverage Field Data Across the Product Lifecycle
Utilize ML to interpret field data to help prevent product failures when the data health deteriorates or run expert emulation scenarios to help decision making.

Solutions for Every Stage of Product Development

From model-based systems design and early geometry ideation and manufacturability, to detailed multiphysics simulation and optimization, Altair's latest simulation software release includes a large number of updates and enhancements. Here are some other product highlights:

  • Simulation-driven Design for Manufacturing (SdfM): Altair® Inspire™ Cast and Altair® Inspire™ Mold now offer seamless integration with Altair® SimLab® for advanced meshing as well significantly improved performance with full MPI processing support.
  • Rapid Design and Analysis: Altair SimSolid adds incremental nonlinear analysis and spot weld fatigue analysis to its solutions toolset, while further increasing speed and memory efficiency.
  • Systems Modeling: The new romAI tool uses machine learning to create reduced order models of your long runtime, highly complex subsystems models, all within the familiar Altair Activate® environment. Altair Compose expands its data analysis and scripting capabilities with new functions and commands for general math, statistics, signal processing, linear algebra, and controls.
  • Multiphysics Workflows: SimLab continues expanding the broad set of available solutions – including structural, thermal, flow, electromagnetics, injection molding and welding – now fully supporting remote servers through Altair® PBS Professional® integration.
  • CFD Solutions: The entire Altair CFD toolset has received significant enhancements. In particular, a gradient-based topology optimization method has been added to consider fluid flow results in optimization studies, and the Altair® EDEM™/Altair® AcuSolve® co-simulation capabilities have been vastly expanded.
  • Electromobility and EM: Typical applications like V2X communications can be simulated with additional accuracy thanks to the new shooting and bouncing rays (SBR) method in Altair® Feko®’s WinProp tool. In Altair® Flux®, users are now able to perform free shape optimization on complex electromechanical systems.
  • Structural Analysis and Optimization: Altair OptiStruct now include new for stiffness, strength, stability, electrical, and heat transfer analyses, while Altair Radioss continues expanding the wide range of supported material models with paper and corrugated paperboard, rubbers, and metallic foams.
  • Motion and DEM Solutions: Altair Activate can now seamlessly interface with EDEM and Altair® MotionSolve® for simultaneous, dynamic co-simulations of complex multibody and discrete elements models.
  • Rendering and Animations: Altair® Inspire™ Studio can now import EDEM and MotionSolve models to quickly create rendered animations of DEM and multibody results. Full support for NVIDIA RTX graphics has been added as well.
